Ari Kaplan is a leading figure in the new generation of analytical minds helping shape the future of baseball in America today. Educated at the elite California Institute of Technology, he is a recipient of the university’s “Alumni of the Decade” award for pioneering groundbreaking sabermetrics used to evaluate pitcher talent.   Over the past seventeen seasons, Ari has worked full-time and consulted for twelve MLB organizations working directly with General Managers, Presidents, and Scouting Directors to dramatically improve business operations and strategic analytical capabilities. He comes from a scouting background and is also one of the few long-term baseball leaders who has a proven track record of successfully running several high-profile companies as CEO.

 

Ari is highly skilled at combining computers, technology, statistical analysis and business acumen for a fresh look at evaluating players for maximum return on a baseball club’s investment. Ari Kaplan is known throughout the Major Leagues for revolutionizing and modernizing player assessment.  Over the past 17 years, he has brought innovative analysis and technology to baseball.  While employed by the Baltimore Orioles, San Diego Padres, Montreal Expos, and Houston Astros he designed and developed scouting and player development database systems from the ground up. Ari Kaplan is President of the Independent Oracle Users Group. Caltech's "Alumni of the Decade" for the 1990's, he was the CEO and CTO for Expand Beyond Corporation before its acquisition in March 2005 by Datalink. As CEO he was responsible for setting the strategic vision of the company's technology, and served as the company's evangelist to promote the immediate and powerful benefits of mobile solutions in the IT workforce. As CTO he was the driving force behind a talented software development team focused on mobile management products within the Expand Beyond framework that empower companies to manage their entire IT infrastructure (databases, applications, servers, networks) from a mobile console.
